List of Problems
Problem 1) Foggy Windows – When you get in your car in the mornings and drive, the windows are almost always foggy. Sometimes the defrost will not work and you are dangerously stuck driving a car which you can barely see out of. This problem was even listed on Allstate’s blog, a very popular insurance company. Solutions are scarce, the only real solution besides defrost is inserting silica dessicant between the window panes, which is difficult for the average person to do.
Problem 2) Lost TV Remotes – People frequently lose their TV remotes in various places including couch cushions, underneath furniture, and even leaving it in the fridge on accident when waking up for a midnight snack (I know from experience). This problem is very common in everyday households, as was expressed by a blogger names Mike Timmermann on clark.com. There are not really any already existing solutions for this, as this problem is something caused by human action as opposed to something you can’t help.
Problem 3) Missing Parcel Deliveries – Sometimes a delivery will come and nobody is home to sign for it, and the delivery man or woman will leave with the package. If there was a way around this, you would never miss a package. This is important because the package could be urgent and important, or expensive. Then you end up in an “endless loop of missing delivery attempts, according to gizmodo.com. This website is one of the many websites to complain about this problem.
Problem 4) Losing Your Cookie in Milk – Have you ever tried dipping your Oreos or Chips Ahoy in milk and dropped he cookie in, where is sits and fall apart until you dump out the milk? This problem is very common among households and although it seems insignificant, a solution would help many people. There are, however, already multiple existing solutions, so it would be difficult to create a new and more efficient solution.
Problem 5) Lifting Weights Without a Spotter – Sometimes you go to the gym and your lifting partner, or spotter, is unable to make it. Or maybe you want to start working out but have nobody to go with. If there was a solution that could spot for you, then this would no longer be an issue. Multiple gyms have said they witnessed injuries due to having no spotter and if there was a solution to this, they would get it.
Problem 6) Improper Cooking Measurements – I have seen multiple family members and friends accidentally use the wrong cooking measurements, primarily when using sticks of butter or cheese, or when cutting fruit. If there were a universal fix for this, then cooking would be made easier. There are limited solutions already in existence.
Problem 7) Boat Stuck in Sandbar – When people are driving their boat, sometimes it will get stuck in areas where you cannot see how deep the water is. If your boat gets stuck on a sandbar, it is very difficult to get it out. You and your family have to get out and push with all your strength to get it out. If there was a device that could be used from inside the boat to remove the boat from the sandbar, then that would be much easier. Multiple sources that have reported this problem included fisherman and tourists.

Problem Statement
Based off of a survey conducted in October of 2017 in Worcester County, Maryland, over half of the 307 respondents ranged from 12-20 years old and answered that their solution to losing a TV remote is simply looking for it or giving up. Also, 56% of these respondents answered that if there was a new product to solve the issue, they would try it because simply looking for the remote is ineffective
Summary
The first thing we started for this project was brainstorming and researching many problems faced in every day lives. We found a lot of problems but realized that most of our problems would be hard to make given the amount of time we have. All of us were interested in the finding your T.V remote problem and didn't think this problem would be extremely hard to solve. Our next step was to see if the problem was really a common problem in peoples houses. First we found three reliable sources to make sure that finding your T.V remote was a problem. Then to find this out we made a survey and distributed throughout our community and online. We found out that loosing your T.V remote is a common problem and that people would pay for something to solve this problem. Knowing this we decided as a group we are going to try and solve the dilemma of finding your lost T.V remote.
